I am a bilingual and bicultural Mental Health Therapist born and raised in the SF Bay Area.
Professionally trained with a Masters Degree in Counseling and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, I have over 15 years of experience working in the helping field.
I have lived in various Bay Area cities: from Pacifica, San Mateo, Millbrae, San Pablo, San Francisco, and Concord.
When I am not working...I am watching movies, listening to music, and tending to the 10,000 things my kids want to do.
Oh, I most likely am also sending my friends silly texts.
When a child alleges sexual abuse or assault, a collaborative investigation is prompted with Law Enforcement, the District Attorneys office, and Child and Family Services. Children in San Mateo County are brought to the Childrens Advocacy Center for a forensic interview. With the alliance of a small but mighty team, we are responsible for conducting legally sound, developmentally, and culturally appropriate interviews of children and teens who are suspected victims or witness to violent crimes. I conduct forensic interviews to our monolingual and bilingual Spanish speaking families in the county.
A level 12 group home for adolescent girls with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse) in the juvenile justice system. Worked within a multidisciplinary team to assess and plan for reunification.
Provided individual and family counseling to youth that met criteria for Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS). Youth that had an IEP- or were in the process of eligibility- were assessed to determine if their mental health was impacting their level of functioning at school. Comprehensive assessments included multi-layer interviews: the child, caregivers, primary care physicians, therapists/psychiatrist, school staff, as well as observing the child in the classroom. Findings would be documented in a legally binding report and presented to the caregivers and school district.
